The Class of 2016 designed a residential tower in New York, NY. The 63-story tower with below grade parking was provided to us by DeSimone Consulting Engineers.

A portion of the project is located above existing subway tunnels and required complicated foundations. Additional challenges included lateral analysis of the slender tower, variable floor plates to create a changing curved façade, columns that shift location, two different pools within the structure, long span framing over the recreation area, and cantilevered framing to support the façade at the penthouse.

At the end of the year, students had the opportunity to visit the project and observe the construction of the complicated foundation system.
