P.C. Rossin College of
Engineering and Applied Science

Below is a listing of several current Ph.D. students:

Dawei Li

Advisor: Professor Mooi Choo Chuah

Dawei joined Lehigh CSE department as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2012. As a member of the WiNS Lab, lead by Prof. Mooi Choo Chuah, he was involved in the SECON project which aims for the design of scalable mobile content centric data system. His contribution includes proposing a new architecture for better mobility support, enhancing caching capability for better mobile video streaming experience, and implementing a mobile augmented reality application. Now, Dawei's research thesis is focused on the design of practical mobile visual recognition systems by exploring the computing platform constraint, the application context, and the mobile sensor inputs. During the summer of 2015, Dawei did an internship at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center.

Wenbo Li

Advisor: Professor Mooi Choo Chuah

Wenbo is a Ph.D. student at Computer Science and Engineering Department, Lehigh University. He works with Professor Mooi Choo Chuah. His research interests lie on the interface of computer vision and machine learning, especially video analysis and recurrent neural networks. Before coming to Lehigh, he received his B.Eng from Tianjin University, China. During his undergraduate study, he was fortunate to work with Professor Yi Zhang, Dr. Longyin Wen and Professor Stan Z. Li.

Qinghan Xue

Advisor: Professor Mooi Choo Chuah

Qinghan is a Ph.D. student who works with Professor Mooi Choo Chuah. His research interests are security and privacy in cloud computing, malware detection and data mining. He is currently involved in two research projects: one on designing a cuckoo filter based privacy keyword search scheme to provide privacy-aware keyword search over encrypted data; the second one is to design a privacy-preserving disease treatment, complication prediction scheme which allows authorized users to conduct searches for disease diagnosis, personalized treatments and predictions of potential complications.

Tao Xu

Advisor: Professor Xiaolei Huang

Tao Xu is currently a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Lehigh University. She is working with Professor Xiaolei Huang. Her current research interests include medical image processing, computer vision, machine learning and pattern recognition. In particular, she is studying deep learning and convolutional neural network techniques and their applications in image-based cancer diagnosis and brain data analysis. She has published numerous papers in the proceedings of CVPR, MICCAI, ISBI, and ICME. Before coming to Lehigh, she received an M.S. in Computer Science from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China in 2013, and her B.E. in Agricultural Mechanization and Automatization from China Agricultural University, Beijing, China in 2010.
