Mayuresh Kothare, the R. L. McCann Professor in the chemical and biomolecular engineering department at Lehigh University, has been appointed to the editorial board of an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) society journal.

Kothare will serve as an associate editor of Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics (SMC): Systems. The IEEE publication is one of five journals published by the IEEE SMC Society.

IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization, with nearly a half-million members in more than 160 countries. The organization is a leading voice on aerospace systems, computers, telecommunications, biomedical engineering, electric power, consumer electronics and many other areas. It is comprised of 39 distinct technical societies.

The IEEE-SMC Society's mission is to promote the theory, practice and interdisciplinary aspects of systems science and engineering, human-machine systems and cybernetics. The Transactions on SMC: Systems journal publishes peer reviewed papers in systems engineering. Its scope also includes formulation, analysis and modeling, decision making and issue interpretation for any of the systems engineering life cycle phases associated with the definition, development and deployment of large systems. Other topics of interest include systems management, systems engineering processes, and a variety of systems engineering methods such as optimization, modeling and simulation.

Kothare serves as deputy Editor-in-Chief of International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) PapersOnLine, a repository of all IFAC conference proceedings. He is also a member of the publications committee of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), providing oversight to all its publications.

Kothare previously served on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control as well as Automatica, a journal of the IFAC. He was also guest editor for the Journal of Process Control and was on the Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society.

Kothare is a fellow of IEEE.
