The role of CHOICES mentors is to create a dynamic and enriching environment for camp participants by providing guidance, support, and inspiration. As a mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive community, helping campers develop new skills, and creating lasting memories.
In 2024, the summer camp schedule is as follows:
- Camp 1, June 17-21
- Camp 2, June 24-28
What are the qualifications for being a mentor?
CHOICES mentors must be current Lehigh women engineering students. Our funding through Bosch Rexroth requires this specificity.
What are the roles of a mentor?
The mentors are with the girls through the entire day camp. They are responsible for the campers’ well-being as well as introducing them to all the excitement of engineering. The mentors serve as a bridge between the campers and the volunteer professors.
Breakdown of mentor responsibilities:
- Facilitate group activities and discussions;
- Provide mentorship and support to assigned campers;
- Collaborate with other mentors and camp organizers;
- Assist faculty in lab sessions; and,
- Attend training dates (TBD.)
What are the benefits of being a mentor?
- Gain valuable leadership experience, which can be added to resume, scholarship requirements, and/or grants.
- Contribute to the personal and academic growth of camp participants.
- Build lasting connections with fellow mentors and organizers.
- Receive CPR and First Aid training and certifications, valid for 2 years.
- Paid Child Clearances valid for 5 years.
