The Class of 2014 designed 800 Park Avenue, an upscale residential tower in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The project was provided to us by Industry Advisory Council member DeSimone Consulting Engineers.
The slender tower is 48 stories tall, and includes challenges such as sloping columns, and cantilevered framing at the penthouse supporting tracked window washing units. The adjacent 5-story parking garage includes amenity space, landscaping, recreational areas, and a pool on the upper level.
During the summer semester, students learned about the geotechnical aspects of the project during a seminar from Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers.
In the fall of 2013 the students had the rare opportunity to view the project under construction.
