The Class of 2022 is providing structural engineering for a medical office building to be located in Waltham, Massachusetts and Oakland, California.  The project is sponsored by Industry Advisory Council member, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger.  Students will be challenged to design two lateral systems for the different lateral loads at each location.  Students will work in small groups to conduct a code review, determine loads, select the most appropriate gravity and lateral systems, and complete the full structural design of the project.  At the end of each semester, findings will be presented to the faculty, the Industry Advisory Council, MEng program alumni, and additional structural engineering professionals.
