Dr. Mesut Pervizpour conducts research on coupled phenomena in porous media. His research focuses on single or multiphase fluid and heat flow and the material response of soft porous media from the small strain-high frequency stage to the large strain-instantaneous impact-loading stage.
Dr. Pervizpour uses a system-level approach in his research by integrating experimental and computational approaches within a parameter estimation methodology.
He has also worked on and managed various infrastructural projects developing real-time bridge health monitoring and asset management systems with the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
Teaching and Service
Before coming to Lehigh University Dr. Pervizpour served on the faculties of Widener University and Lafayette College. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in geotechnical engineering and design topics, groundwater hydrology, computational methods, project management, and transportation engineering. He has advised four M.S. students, more than 15 undergraduate research students, and served on four doctoral dissertation committees.
Dr. Pervizpour is a member of International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has also served on the board of the Delaware Valley Geotechnical Institute (DVGI), and as a representative for Delaware Regional Planning Committee (DVRPC). In addition, he is a co-adviser of the Lehigh ASCE Student Chapter.
Dr. Pervizpour also serves as a reviewer for several journals in geotechnical, foundations and geoenvironmental engineering.
