About the CHOICES Summer Camps

The Summer CHOICES Engineering Camp is a popular hands-on learning experience in engineering and science for 6th, 7th, or 8th grade middle-school girls.

The camp is designed to provide girls with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun engineering and science experiments led by women engineers (students and faculty) from Lehigh University's P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. Throughout this week-long camp, the girls will be introduced to a variety of fun and challenging activities that are organized by engineering mentors.

Past projects have included:

  • NASA Goddard Space Center Collaboration (Aerospace)

  • Rube Goldberg Projects (Systems Engineering)

  • Building a water tower (Civil Engineering)

  • Designing and building a trophy (Materials Science)

  • Designing and testing robots (Computer Science)

  • Using household ingredients to make fun take home projects (Chemical Engineering)

  • Designing towers and testing them on shaker tables (Structural Engineering)

  • Purifying muddy water (Environmental Engineering)

  • Field Trip to Bosch-Rexroth (Manufacturing)

  • Meeting local women in engineering

The camp is limited to 20 girls who will work on a combination of individual and team projects throughout the week. On the last day, after lunch, teams present their accomplishments before Lehigh staff and invited family and friends.

The Summer CHOICES program is now in its 20th year and is as popular than ever!

All major credit cards accepted. Fee covers lunch & supplies.
