The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University invites applications for tenure-track faculty at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Tenure on appointment is possible for senior candidates. We encourage applications from outstanding candidates in the areas of systems, machine learning / artificial intelligence, and human centered computing / human computer interaction. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the date of employment.
 
Successful candidates will lead strong research programs, contribute to our educational mission, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and contribute to reducing systemic bias in the field of computing. Applicants should have a strong record of research and scholarship, as well as a clear commitment to students and learning. The CSE Department (https://www.cse.lehigh.edu/) currently has 21 tenured and tenure-track professors (three with joint appointments) and 10 instructional faculty, with strengths in systems, robotics, human-centered computing, data science, and AI. CSE faculty include fellows of the ACM, IEEE, and NAI, as well as several NSF CAREER award winners. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in ongoing research efforts, including those associated with Lehigh’s interdisciplinary research institutes, such as the Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems, and Computation (https://idisc.lehigh.edu/) and the Institute for Cyber Physical Infrastructure and Energy (https://icpie.lehigh.edu/).
 
The Department offers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science. All of our B.S. programs are fully accredited, including the unique B.S. in Computer Science and Business program, which is accredited both in computer science and in business. Our undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. programs are vibrant and growing, supporting over 580 undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate students.

Open Rank Search: Data Science for Health

The Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science (RCEAS) at Lehigh University invites applications at all ranks for a tenure-track or tenured position in Data Science for Health. The start date is July 1, 2025. This search is being conducted jointly by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and is one of several expected hires in the area of Data Science for Health. Human health is an identified area of strategic importance for Lehigh, as reflected by the recent establishment of a new College of Health (CoH). Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent by date of hire) in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or related areas.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; pursue a vibrant research agenda focused on data science methodology with applications to health; and be committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.

Lehigh’s RCEAS is comprised of eight departments with strong ties to Lehigh’s three interdisciplinary research institutes, including the Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems, and Computation (I-DISC). ISE currently has 19 full- time faculty members, 141 undergraduate and 103 graduate students, 38 of whom are Ph.D. students. The ISE faculty maintains an outstanding international reputation in a variety of research areas, including data science and machine learning; mathematical optimization; stochastic models; applied operations research; quantum computing; and uncertainty quantification. CSE currently has 21 tenured and tenure-track professors and 10 instructional faculty members, with vibrant and strong undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs currently supporting more than 600 students. The department has strengths in systems, robotics, human-centered computing, data science, machine learning and AI. Both CSE and ISE have extensive interdisciplinary ties with each other and with other departments at Lehigh through master’s programs (such as the new MS in Data Science) and the university’s flagship research institutes, including I-DISC.
