John H. Mueller is currently Chairman and Owner of G&W Electric Company, Bolingbrook, IL. Founded by Harry Gear and Paul Williams in 1905, G&W Electric is a global leader in providing innovative solutions to the electric power industry. In 1977, after three generations of the Williams family ownership, the Mueller family purchased the company bringing strong management and an operating philosophy that focused on the customer.
John joined the company in 1987 as a regional sales manager and held numerous other sales positions before starting his tenure as President. Under his guidance, the company has grown a remarkable 1200%. John successfully created a world-class sales and marketing organization that broadened the distribution of G&W Electric products to more than 120 countries. His visionary investment in research, development, and manufacturing has led to many new product innovations and the expansion of its global manufacturing capabilities to include Canada, China, Italy, and Mexico. As a result of the company’s R&D efforts, G&W Electric has been awarded over forty US and foreign patents, issued, or pending, covering medium voltage switchgear and high voltage cable accessories.
John began his professional career as a Sales Engineer with Reliance Electric Company, a manufacturer of electric motors and drives, where he worked for two years. He then joined the Allen-Bradley Company where he was an Area Sales Manager for solid-state power devices. John remained with Allen-Bradley for 6 years. In 1987, John joined G&W Electric as the Northeast Regional Sales Manager. In 1988, he was promoted to National Sales Manager, and two years later became the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, a position he held for four years. He became President in 1994 and the majority owner in 2004.
In addition to his position at G&W Electric, John is also a community leader and lends his business acumen to a variety of both charitable and business Board of Directors. John and his wife Anne have three children, Steve, Jennifer, Chris, and grandson, Theo.
