The Numerette is a high-speed offshore boat that was built with two objectives: to evaluate a hull concept consisting of a stainless steel frame clad with carbon and glass fiber sandwich panels, and to study slamming (high speed hydrodynamic impact). It is a very strong boat, designed for 23 G vertical acceleration, and it is equipped with a large data acquisition system. The vessel was designed and built in the Lehigh Composites Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics at Lehigh University.
