
Electrical engineering alum Kate Johnson ’89, president and CEO of Lumen Technologies, will deliver the keynote at Lehigh’s 157th undergraduate Commencement ceremony on May 18, 2025. Johnson has led business transformation initiatives at Microsoft, Oracle, GE, and other major firms, and now heads Lumen’s shift toward becoming a trusted network for artificial intelligence solutions.
Johnson, who began her career solving problems as an engineer and later earned an MBA from Wharton, says returning to Lehigh to address the graduates is a meaningful milestone. “I look forward to sharing with the graduates my experiences at Lehigh and the subsequent lessons that have shaped my life and career,” she said. “It’s a privilege to share this moment with them as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”
