Materials science and engineering alum Jim Gable '93 has been named vice president of innovation and president of Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV), effective February 1, 2022.

Gable, who has developed broad commercial, operations, and technology experience over his 23 years at Chevron, was most recently overseeing the development and deployment of downstream-related technology for the corporation and served as vice president of Chevron Technical Center.

He succeeds Barbara J. Burger, who is retiring from the company after 34 years.

“CTV has a 22-year history of investing in startups across a wide cross section of energy innovation and a track record of collaboration to bring innovation to scale,” Eimear Bonner, Chevron vice president and chief technology officer, said in a press release. “Jim’s experience at Chevron is deep and diverse. Combined with his technology commercialization experience with CTV early in his career, as well as in his current role, Jim is poised to lead CTV to even greater success.”

Gable received his bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from Lehigh in 1993 and his MBA from the University of Virginia in 1998.

In his new role, Gable will be based in Houston.
