Her Institute envisions of developing the next generation to expand the ChE profession are coming to fruition amongst her own children
Christine B. Seymour ’89, Lehigh University ChBE alum has been named as recipient of the 2022 F.J. & Dorothy Van Antwerpen Award for service to AIChE. The award recognizes a chemical engineer for outstanding contributions to the chemical engineering profession through service to the Institute – in both the professional and technical areas of Institute activities. Seymour is to be receiving her honor at the 2022 AIChE Annual Meeting, November 13–18, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona.
 
Seymour is presently the Senior Director of Oncology and Rare Disease Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control at Pfizer Inc., where she leads the regulatory strategy and implementation for a vast portfolio of projects in drug development. Previously, she led chemical process development research teams at Pharmacia Corporation and at G.D. Searle for products such as Celebrex and Inspra. 
 
Her chemical engineering studies began at Lehigh University by earning a BS and culminated with a PhD at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Seymour also serves on academic councils at Lehigh University as Chair of the Lehigh College of Engineering Advisory Board and member (former Chair) of the Lehigh ChBE Advisory Board.
 
With over 25 years of participation in various leadership roles at AIChE to include her 2018 Presidency, 2013-2015 Secretary, 2009-2011 Board Director, Fellow, and volunteer; her Institute envisions of developing the next generation to expand the profession are coming to fruition amongst her own children. Samantha ‘21 completed her BS in chemical engineering at Lehigh and is working toward her PhD at Oregon State, while Gavin joins the Lehigh chemical engineering class of 2025.
