A fully funded PhD position is available in the Multiscale Fluid Dynamics and Turbulence Lab at Lehigh University in the field of multiphase flows. The student will be involved in the study of particle sedimentation, agglomeration and dispersionin environmental and viscoelastic turbulent flows. A strong background in fluid dynamics, and programming (C++ orPython) is strongly preferred.

Professor Parisa Khodabakhshi - Hiring PhD students to start in either Spring or Fall 2026. Email: pak322@lehigh.edu

Professor Khodabakhshi’s lab focuses on computational mechanics applied to complex engineering phenomena. As the demand for higher accuracy and attention to detail in simulations grows, the computational cost of modeling large-scalesystems has become increasingly prohibitive. Our lab aims to address this challenge by developing and applying model reduction techniques, scientific machine learning, and multifidelity methods. These approaches make it feasible to perform the large number of simulations required for many-query applications such as design optimization, inverseproblems, and uncertainty quantification on large-scale engineering problems.

The Energy Research Center is looking for graduate students with interest in energy topics, including power generation,renewable energy, critical materials, combustion and gasification, energy storage and environmental aspects of energy.

Professor Jianxing Sun - Hiring new PhD students to start in either Spring or Fall 2026. Email: jis825@lehigh.edu
The research will focus on projects in thermal-fluids,phase change (condensation, boiling, and frost), interfacial science, and functional polymer coatings. The potential projects could be studying frosting dynamics and heat transfer on aircraft foils or heat exchangers in cold climates; as well as studying condensation and boiling of dielectric cooling fluids for data center thermal management.
