Dr. Simon Gelin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Lehigh University. His research advances multiscale analytical models and computational methods to elucidate the physical mechanisms governing kinetic and transport properties in materials, from the quantum level to the macroscopic scale. Specific areas of interest include electrochemical conversion at solid-liquid interfaces, diffusion in disordered solids, and processing materials far from equilibrium. Dr. Gelin holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Université Paris-Est- Marne-la-Vallée and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering from École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. Before joining Lehigh University, he worked as a research faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and the Pennsylvania State University. His awards and fellowships include the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from École des Ponts et Chaussées, and research fellowships from Essilor R&D International and the Trottier Energy Institute.
