Jim Beilstein is currently the Vice President of Advanced Manufacturing at Owens Corning. In this role, Jim has responsibility for the technology of manufacturing operations, process innovation, capital engineering, and equipment sourcing as well as capital deployment globally. In addition to these responsibilities, Jim is the chair of the Science & Technology Leadership Council and is a member of the Operations Leadership Council and the Corporate Capital Review Committee all of which are enterprise level senior leadership teams focused on the strategy and execution of operations, productivity, organic growth and capital deployment. Overall, Jim has more than 26 years of experience in manufacturing, information technology and research and development in increasing leadership roles. Twenty of Jim’s 26 years in industry has been with Owens Corning where he established a strong reputation in building strong linkages between business leaders, manufacturing, information technology and R&D.
Prior to rejoining Owens Corning in May of 2017, Jim was Vice President - Brilliant Factory Products at GE, and before that, Chief Information Officer – Global Supply Chain at GE Digital and a member of the corporate executive team leading the strategy and deployment of Brilliant Factory and analytics initiatives for the supply chain across the corporation. Jim was also a member of the site leadership team at the Digital Hub Detroit in Van Buren Township, MI, where he helped lead the center’s transformation to be the hub of all digital supply chain activities for GE. In total, Jim spent nearly 3 years with GE in between his roles at Owens Corning.
Jim is a graduate of Lehigh University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he received bachelors and doctorate degrees in Chemical Engineering respectively. Jim currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the Chemical Engineering departments of both UMass and Lehigh and is chair of the board at Lehigh University. Prior to Owens Corning, Jim worked in Research and Development with Union Camp Corporation (now part of International Paper) in Princeton, NJ.
Jim is a member of the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering department's advisory council serving as its ex-officio member for the Dean’s Advisory Council.
