Zhiyuan Yan's research interests are in coding and modulation, wireless communications, VLSI design and implementation for communication and signal processing systems.

Prior to coming to Lehigh, he served as a graduate teaching/research assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Yan has been awarded multiple grants and has published over 100 technical papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include coding theory, wireless communications, and VLSI implementations of communication and signal processing systems. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and serves on several editorial boards. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award in 2011.
