Dr. Wenxin Liu received the B.S. degree in industrial automation and the M.S. degree in control theory and applications from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 1996 and 2000, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri - Rolla), Rolla, MO, USA, in 2005.

From 2005 to 2009, he was a post-doc and then an Assistant Scholar Scientist with the Center for Advanced Power Systems, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA. From 2009 to 2014, he was an Assistant Professor with the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM, USA. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA.

Dr. Liu’s research interests include power systems, power electronics, controls, and deep reinforcement learning. He performs both advanced algorithm designs and hardware development/experimetation. So far, Dr. Liu has published more than 70 journal papers (mostly in IEEE Transactions with his students) and received over $3.5 million research funding from the Department of Defense/Office of Naval Research, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, California Energy Commission, and National Labs. He was named ConocoPhillips Faculty Fellow in 2011, received the Dean's Recognition Award in 2012, received the Early Career Award in 2013, awarded the P.C. Rossin professorship in 2016, and awarded the Class of '61 Professorship in 2019.

Dr. Liu has served as an Editor/Associated Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, and the Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology.
