BioE Student Spotlight and Dissertation Announcement: Yi Liu
Our next BioE Student Spotlight is Yi Liu, a current Ph.D. student in Bioengineering at Lehigh! Originally from Tianjin, China, Liu chose Lehigh because of its strong academic reputation and focus on research.
Liu’s interest in bioengineering comes from a passion for biology, technology, and problem-solving. “Bioengineering gives me the chance to help advance medicine and be part of a fast-moving field that’s changing the way we think about human health,” Liu says.
After earning a Ph.D. (with an anticipated graduation of this semester), Liu hopes to work as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. Liu shares, “This degree will give me a strong starting point.”
One of Liu’s favorite memories at Lehigh was exploring campus for the first time with a labmate, Wenpeng. “I remember thinking, this is such a beautiful place,” Liu recalls.
Liu’s advice for current and future bioengineering students? “Be prepared for challenges.” The field is exciting and full of opportunities, but it also takes dedication and persistence. We can’t wait to see where Yi Liu’s journey leads next!
