Taken No. 85th overall in 2021 MLB Draft, Black is Lehigh baseball's second highest-drafted player and the program's highest drafted pitcher

Bioengineering major Mason Black was selected in the third round, pick No. 85 overall, by the San Francisco Giants in the 2021 MLB Draft. He is the second-highest drafted player in the history of Lehigh's baseball program and the highest drafted pitcher.

According to LehighSports.com:

"[Black] was fantastic in his third season with the Mountain Hawks, going 7-3 with a 3.11 ERA in 13 starts. Black struck out 95 batters, walked 31 and held hitters to a .235 batting average. His 95 strikeouts are a single-season program record, which broke Lehigh Athletics Hall of Famer Craig Anderson's record from 1960. He struck out 10 or more batters in six games with four complete games and two shutouts to close out the regular season.

Black was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Year, a First Team All-Patriot League selection, and an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-East Region selection for his performances.
