Rick S. Blum, the Robert W. Wieseman Endowed Professor in Electrical Engineering at Lehigh University, has been appointed as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) for the 2025-2026 term. In this role, Blum will present his cutting-edge research on global platforms, supported by the IEEE AESS.

Blum’s work focuses on machine learning, signal processing, and their applications in security, smart grids, communications, radar, and sensor networking. His lecture topics include “Cyber Security of Sensor Systems: Augmenting Anomaly Detection for Sequence Estimation” and “Algorithms and Analysis for Optimizing the Tracking Performance of Cyber Attacked Sensor-Equipped Connected Vehicle Networks.”

A Fellow of the IEEE and recipient of multiple prestigious awards, Blum has contributed significantly to the development of sensor systems and data fusion. His appointment as a Distinguished Lecturer highlights his continued leadership in fields such as artificial intelligence, communications, cyber security, radar systems, and target tracking systems.

Blum served as an IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer in 2011 and 2018.
