Lehigh alumna Dr. Christine Seymour '89 was named President-Elect of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
Seymour, the youngest person ever elected as an AIChE Fellow (in 2011), will serve as President-Elect this year, AIChE President in 2018 and AIChE past President in 2019.
She currently serves as Director in the BioTherapeutics Global Regulatory Chemistry and Manufacturing Controls group at Pfizer Inc., leading the regulatory strategy and implementation for a portfolio of projects across all phases of drug development, commercial applications and established products.
Previously, she led chemical process research teams at both Pharmacia Corp and G. D. Searle.
Seymour earned her undergraduate degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering at Lehigh and her doctorate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also holds an M.S. in Regulatory Affairs from Temple University.
She has served in numerous leadership roles with AIChE, including:
Secretary of the Board of Directors (2012–2015);
Chair of the Forum Formation Committee and first Chair of the Pharmaceutical Discovery, Development, and Manufacturing Forum (2012–2014);
Director of the Society for Biological Engineering (2012–current);
Board of Directors (2009–2011);
Spring Meeting Program Chair (MPC, 2008; Co-MPC 2005);
Chair of the Process Development Division (2003–2005)
Seymour is a recipient of the 2012 Epstein Award for Technical Programming and serves on the Advisory Council of the department of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Lehigh University, as well as the Advisory Council at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
