CEE Professor co-authors book, Life-Cycle of Structures Under Uncertainty: Emphasis on Fatigue-Sensitive Civil and Marine Structures. with LU alum Sunyong Kim.
Congratulations to Dan M. Frangopol, Institute for Cyber Physical Infrastructure & Energy (I-CPIE) faculty and the Fazlur R. Khan endowed Chair of Structural Engineering and Architecture, on the recent publication of his book, Life-Cycle of Structures Under Uncertainty: Emphasis on Fatigue-Sensitive Civil and Marine Structures. Frangopol co-authored the book with Sunyong Kim, Lehigh alumnus and Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Wonkwang University, South Korea. Kim completed his Ph.D. in 2011 under the supervision of Frangopol and was the third Ph.D. student that Frangopol graduated at Lehigh.
Life-Cycle of Structures Under Uncertainty joins Frangopol’s legacy of work, which includes books, book chapters, articles in archival journals, award-winning papers, papers in conference proceedings, and technical reports. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, Frangopol’s contributions to the field have, “defined much of the practice around design specifications, management methods, and optimization approaches.” This latest book provides state-of-the-art theoretical background and practical application of life-cycle analysis and maintenance optimization for fatigue-sensitive structures.
