Video: Schultz lab uses microrheology to enhance wound repair and tissue regeneration
ChBE graduate student John McGlynn won third place in the Society of Rheology Poster Competition at the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Rheology, held October 10-14, 2021, in Bangor, Maine.
McGlynn's poster titled “Using bi-disperse microrheology to measure human mesenchymal stem cell remodeling of hydrogels on multiple length scales” was judged by a panel of expert rheologists. The poster describes his work in applying a new technique, bi-disperse multiple particle tracking microrheology, to characterize length scale dependent rheological properties in hydrogel scaffolds that are being remodeled by 3D encapsulated human mesenchymal stem cells.

McGlynn is a fifth-year PhD student in the Schultz lab, led by Kelly Schultz, an associate professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering. He has won several awards, including the 2021 John C. Chen Endowed Fellowship in Chemical Engineering.
