Industrial engineering alumna Margaret Mayer ’93G ’95 PhD has been named chief technology officer at Zions Bancorporation, effective Oct. 17, 2023, according to a press release.
In her new role, Mayer will “manage all information technology functions for the organization, including application engineering, technology operations, technology strategy, data engineering, and technology infrastructure,” according to the article.
Most recently, Mayer served as vice president and CTO for the consumer banking technology teams at Discover Financial Services, where she led digital transformation strategy. She also held numerous senior technology roles over a 22-year career at Capital One.
Mayer has served as an advisory board member of the computer science department at Virginia Commonwealth University, and she is a board member, and former board chair, of CodeVA, a nonprofit that ensures students receive computer science education across the state of Virginia.
In addition to her Lehigh ISE graduate degrees, Mayer also holds a bachelor's in engineering from Cornell University.
