Fall 2025
Message from the Chair
Dear friends and colleagues:
The Fall 2025 issue of our bi-annual newsletter allows us to reflect on the significant accomplishments of the faculty, alumni, and students of Lehigh's Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM) department. It's been an eventful year for Lehigh MEM, with the department playing a leading role in launching an interdisciplinary MS Program in Aerospace and Space Systems Engineering (AESE).
This past year, our faculty have secured exciting new research grants, launched new research initiatives, and won major research awards. The most notable being Prof. Hannah Dailey, who won the Presidential Early Career Award for Engineers and Scientists (PECASE). You will find details of those accomplishments and many others, including our alumni and current students, in the newsletter.
If you appreciate our efforts and the direction the department is heading, please consider making MEM your philanthropic priority this year. Your support is crucial to our continued success and academic excellence efforts as we navigate financial uncertainty due to reductions in federal research opportunities. Your contributions will help elevate MEM students and faculty to greater heights.
The department is also seeking volunteers to serve on our advisory council. The advisory council includes established professionals from industry and academia who contribute insights to guide the future of our educational programs. If you are interested in getting involved, please complete this self-nomination form.
On behalf of the entire group of MEM faculty and staff, I wish you and your family Happy Holidays.
Arindam Banerjee, Ph.D.
Paul B. Reinhold Professor and Chair, MEM
