MechE PhD student N. Dudko (Figure 1) was awarded a prestigious 3-year NDSEG fellowship for his outstanding achievements in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and was chosen from a pool of 5615 applications this year.
N. Dudko earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh and is currently working in Professor Natasha Vermaak’s research group on thermostructural design for the extreme dynamic environments of rotating detonation engines.
The DoD National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program is a competitive fellowship that is awarded to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. dual citizens who intend to pursue/are pursuing a Doctoral degree aligned with the Department of Defense services Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) in research and development at a U.S. institution of their choice. The NDSEG Fellowship Program is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) under the Office of the Under Secretary for Research and Engineering. The program is intended to increase the number of U.S. citizens or nationals trained in disciplines of science and engineering of military importance and develop continuing relationships with recipients and the sponsoring military services.
