Rosemary Steup joined Lehigh University on July 1, 2026, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Steup previously served at Lehigh as an Advancing Future Faculty Development Postdoctoral Scholar, during which she also served as President of the Lehigh Postdoctoral Association.

Her research focuses on advocating and designing for a more caring, sustainable world. She studies how narratives about technology and labor are encoded into software design and how these factors impact workers' well-being and temporal autonomy. Her current research projects explore power dynamics within platform-mediated home care, resistance and oppositional responses to generative AI, and technology's role in the future of farming.

Dr. Steup earned her Ph.D. in Informatics from Indiana University Bloomington and is affiliated with the Labor Tech Research Network. At Lehigh, she has taught courses covering data science ethics as well as computers and society.
