The Society of Automotive Engineers returns to Michigan International Speedway in May for the 37th annual SAE College Design Series.
Lehigh engineering will be there as well, looking to take home high honors at the finish line.
The university's Formula SAE team, a club comprised of 30 engineering and business students, began designing, developing and building a new single-seat race car in advance of the competition. The event pits over 100 teams from universities and colleges across the world.
"We compete against teams that have more people and a larger budget than us, so we don’t necessarily go to win," said Andrew Papazian '15, Lehigh SAE's team captain. "If we place within the top 30 of the 120 teams at the competition, we did really well for our financial level and team size."
The team will travel to Michigan for the competition, scheduled for May 13-16.
