The 2023 Rossin Awards

The annual Collegewide event was held on Monday, May 8 at the Iacocca Wood Dining Hall to celebrate the achievements and dedication of Rossin College faculty and staff in support of research and educational excellence across Lehigh's engineering community.

The College offers its sincere thanks to everyone across all of our departments, programs, offices and institutes for another fantastic academic year!


~2023 Rossin Award recipients~

Parvthinathan Venkitasubramaniam & Angela Brown: Interdisciplinary Research Excellence

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has clearly reached beyond their discipline to collaborate and develop significant research opportunities and partnerships while maximizing the impact of current research at Lehigh.


Frank E. Curtis & Nicholas Strandwitz: Excellence in Research Scholarship and Leadership

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding scholarships (through publications, patents, etc.) and is considered to be a prominent research leader in their field, thus bringing recognition to Lehigh.


Mark Snyder: Citizenship

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding citizenship to Lehigh University, the Rossin College, and their own Department/Unit.


Katie Kackenmeister & William Maroun: Experiential Learning Excellence

This award recognizes a Rossin college staff member who has successfully utilized experiential learning activities to engage and prepare their students. Staff honored with this award will have prompted new levels of creativity and innovative thinking from students and helped them gain a deeper understanding of open-ended, real-world problem-solving.


Jodi Imler: Excellence in Graduate Student Support Award

This award recognizes a Rossin college staff member who is committed to providing outstanding support and guidance to our graduate students. Staff members honored with this award will have created a positive, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable seeking assistance with academic and non-academic issues.


Christina Viau Haden: Richard P. Vinci Award for Educational Excellence

Celebrating a beloved professor who passed away in 2019 after a brave battle with ALS, this award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has demonstrated effective teaching and/or enhanced the student learning experience by using effective, non-standard teaching methods into the classroom and shows an outstanding commitment to the success of their students.


Katrina Kraft: Citizenship

This award recognizes an exceptional Rossin college staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty in their daily work and activities, serving as an example of dedication, support and excellence in upholding the college’s mission and supporting its various initiatives.


Clay Naito: Peer Mentoring

This award recognizes a Rossin college senior faculty member who has demonstrated a dedication to creating a vibrant and supportive culture within the college through formal and informal channels so faculty can reach their highest potential.


Kelly Schultz: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has shown passion and effectiveness in promoting equity, inclusion and Diversity in Rossin College and their own Department/Unit.


Lesley Chow: Outstanding Doctoral Student Advising Award

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has a strong commitment to the doctoral education and provides excellent support and mentorship to doctoral students they work with. Current doctoral students are strongly encouraged to submit nominations for this award when their advisors are doing an exceptional job.


Jamie Lenhart: Excellence in Undergraduate Student Support

This award recognizes a Rossin college staff member who is committed to providing outstanding support and guidance to our undergraduate students. Staff members honored with this award will have created a positive, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable seeking assistance with academic and non-academic issues.


Yahong Rosa Zheng: Experiential Learning Excellence

This award recognizes a Rossin college faculty member who has successfully utilized experiential learning activities to engage and prepare their students.
