Bingxin Liu is a junior majoring in Bioengineering on the Biopharmaceuticals track.  Originally from Tianjin, China, Liu chose to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering at Lehigh, drawn not only by the university's strong academic reputation but also by its stunning campus and vibrant community. “I was appalled by the beautiful campus at first. Then I was attracted by Lehigh's strong education and various extracurricular clubs and opportunities,” she explains. For Liu, Lehigh represents the perfect environment to prepare for her future career.

Liu's passion for medicine and health naturally led her to the bioengineering field. She shares, “Bioengineering allows me to further explore my interest and to improve my knowledge and problem-solving skills." With a specialization in Biopharmaceuticals, she is particularly focused on the intersection of engineering and healthcare. Biopharmaceutical Engineering at Lehigh equips her with the tools needed to tackle real-world medical challenges.

Looking ahead, Liu is passionate about drug research and development. She believes that her education at Lehigh will provide her with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for success in this field. “Being a bioengineering student at Lehigh allows me to dive deep into knowledge and to develop soft skills like mentoring and leadership,” she states, emphasizing the importance of personal growth alongside academic achievement.

Liu’s experiences at Lehigh have been enriched by her active involvement in the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). Through this organization, she has gained valuable insights and connections that enhance her understanding of bioengineering beyond the classroom. Liu recalls, “Participating in various activities held by the BIOE department are always great experiences." Liu particularly appreciates the seminars that expand her knowledge and the inspiring conversations she has had with both professors and peers. “Every interaction is a chance to learn something new.”

One of Liu’s favorite memories involves engaging in discussions during these seminars, where she found herself captivated by her classmates' perspectives and her professors' expertise. This collaborative environment has reinforced her belief in the importance of community and support within the bioengineering program.

When asked for advice for current and future students, Liu emphasizes the value of connection and outreach. “Do not hesitate to reach out! Professors and upperclassmen are always happy to provide suggestions to help with any problems you might have. They are really nice people who are looking forward to knowing you!” This encouragement reflects her own positive experiences at Lehigh, where she has found mentors and friends who have helped her navigate her challenges.

With her passion for bioengineering, strong commitment to her studies, and eagerness to make a meaningful impact in the field of drug research and development, Bingxin Liu is well on her way to doing great things and making a difference in the bioengineering community.
