A Lehigh University student team won the Best Video Award in the 2022 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Engineering Design Competition.
Team members are Tucker Bayda ’22, Riley Conklin ’22G, Thomas Szewczyk ’21 ’22G, and Jillian Tamarazzo ‘22; The team was advised by Clay Naito, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, and mentored by PCI producer member, Northeast Prestressed Products.
PCI’s “Big Beam competition,” now in its 22nd year, teaches college students from across the United States structural engineering skills in an applied learning environment. Teams design, build, and test a 20-foot, precast, prestressed concrete beam and are judged on the beam’s performance in stress tests that simulate the types of real-life conditions and the quality of their analysis, reports, and a video project overview.
