ChBE '17 PhD alum, Gül H. Zerze, has accepted an Assistant Professor position at the University of Houston, William A. Brookshire Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with an anticpated start date of January 2022. Gül also received a generous $2M Texan recruitment award from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). 

Gül received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. She was a fellow of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey when she was studying her master’s degree. In 2013, she joined Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh University where she received her PhD in 2017. Since then, she went to Princeton University, Chemical and Biological Engineering as a postdoc research associate, where her research primarily covered fundamental understanding of molecules of life via molecular simulation methods and theory. She has been recipient of awards acknowledging her work including AICHE COMSEF division’s Graduate Student Award, Biophysical Society’s Student Research Achievement Award, Chevron Corporation’s Recognizing Excellence and Achievement Award.
