Lori Herz teaches lecture courses in metabolic engineering and regulatory affairs, as well as a laboratory-based course in biotechnology.  As the Associate Chair of the Bioengineering Department, she oversees the operations of the undergraduate program. Herz joined Lehigh as a Professor of Practice in 2008, after working in the pharmaceutical industry for over eight years. Her areas of expertise include sterile drug product manufacture, technology transfer, and regulatory compliance, as well as the development of cell culture, tangential flow filtration, and lyophilization processes.

Herz held several positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she provided technical support for sterile drug products and managed a facility used for early-phase clinical operations and scale-up of protein therapeutics.  She continues to maintain her ties to industry through consulting projects.
