Rossin Connection Podcast: Nicholas Strandwitz

Dhruv Seshadri’s dad knew long before he did that he’d end up in a field where he gave back to society.

Seshadri is an assistant professor in bioengineering who works with wearable devices to improve patient outcomes. He came to his work after a childhood spent volunteering in food pantries where he experienced first-hand the rewards of helping others in need. That same ethos of giving back drives him today, as he works to develop and enhance technologies that can help people live healthier lives.

It’s a mindset he looks for in students interested in joining his lab.

“Every time I hire a student here at Lehigh, I don't look at GPA,” he says. “What I want to know is are they hungry for opportunity, and do they have a story as to what wakes them up in the morning?”

Like many of his students, Seshadri’s why is a personal one.
