Dr. Laura Moyer is also Manager of Metallography, Light Optical Microscopy, and X-ray Diffraction in the Materials Science Department at Lehigh University. She has BS, MS, and PhD degrees (1999, 2002 and 2005, respectively) from Lehigh University.

From 2005 until 2013, she was employed by Alcoa, Inc located in Dover, NJ, a world-class supplier of complex investment cast Ni and Co based superalloy airfoils for the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries. As Technical Services Manager/Chief Metallurgist, she was the responsible party for all special process areas, including metallography, heat treatment, welding, chemical processing, and non-destructive testing.

During her employment with Alcoa, she served as a voting member for Nadcap and held several customer certifications in metallography, heat treatment, and chemical processing.

In her current position at Lehigh University, Dr. Moyer is responsible for the metallography, light optical microscopy, and x-ray diffraction laboratories and also serves as laboratory instructor for several courses including MAT 10 Materials Laboratory, MAT 206 Processing and Properties of Metals, and MAT 268 Failure Analysis.  She is also responsible for several STEM based summer outreach programs including Lehigh University's SEI.
