Congratulations to the 2021 Winners!

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department held its annual Master’s Research Symposium on April 23, 2021.

Professor Xiu Yang organized and facilitated this year’s online event that showcased the exceptional capabilities of ISE’s master’s students, and highlighted the resources and opportunities the department provides to them. The four teams below presented their dynamic research topics:

Team 1: Leigh Friedman, Neha Mandhyani, and Liz Turi, presented COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution under the advisement of Professor Ana I. Alexandrescu.

Team 2: Varun Joseph Andrews and Joseph Golob presented A Strategy for Effective ICU Nurse Scheduling under the advisement of Ana I. Alexandrescu.

Team 3: Ved Patel, Echolocation and using Deep Learning: An Experimental Approach under the advisement of Professor Martin Takáĉ and Professor Joshua Agar (Material Science).

Team 4: Yujie Zhang presented Constrained Gaussian Process Regression for Scientific Computing under the advisement of Professor Xiu Yang.

The UG and Master’s Research Symposium selection committee included Assistant Professor Aida Khajavirad, Associate Professor Daniel P. Robinson, and Professor Lawrence V. Snyder. This committee has proudly announced the following winners:

Master’s 1st Place: Varun Joseph Andrews and Joseph Golob for their presentation: A Strategy for Effective ICU Nurse Scheduling.

Master’s 2nd Place Tie: Ved Patel for his presentation: Echolocation using Deep Learning: An Experimental Approach and Leigh Freidman, Neha Mandhyani, and Liz Turi for their presentation: COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution.

Honorable Mention: Yujie Zhang for his presentation: Constrained Gaussian Process Regression for Scientific Computing.
