Derick Brown, Mark Snyder to assume associate dean positions Oct. 1

The Rossin College is reconfiguring its leadership team to enhance support of its educational mission and bolster operations in recruiting engineering students and supporting them throughout their Lehigh journey.

Effective October 1, Derick Brown, a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and its associate chair, will assume the role of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education. Derick is recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award as well as the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science Teaching Excellence Award. He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP), International Society for Subsurface Microbiology (ISSM), and the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi.

Also effective October 1, Mark Snyder, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and its director of masters programs, will assume the role of Associate Dean for Graduate Education. Mark obtained his B.S in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. He is the recipient of an NSF CAREER Award and a Doctoral New Investigator Award from the ACS Petroleum Research Fund. At Lehigh, Snyder has been recognized with the Frank Hook Assistant Professorship, the P.C. Rossin Assistant Professorship, the Early Career Award for Distinguished Teaching, the Rossin College's Educational Excellence Award, and Lehigh's Stabler Award for Excellence in Teaching.
