Industrial engineering and manufacturing systems engineering alum Laurence Sax ’86 ’87G was named chief operating officer for Gordon Brothers, a global advisory, restructuring, and investment firm, in April 2020, according to a press release.  

Sax has “extensive restructuring and operational experience,” says the firm’s CEO, Kenneth Frieze, and will lead Gordon Brothers’ finance, accounting, treasury, financial planning, corporate development, and information technology functions.

Prior to this role, Sax spent 12 years at Alvarez & Marsal, serving in interim management appointments (CFO, COO, and CRO) during that period. He has also held positions at NHB Advisors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Fidelity Investments. As an entrepreneur, he founded, owned, and operated Cap Factory, a specialty retail chain with locations across the U.S.

Sax earned a BS in industrial engineering and an MS in manufacturing systems engineering from Lehigh.
