Lehigh’s rigorous Computer Science and Business (CSB) program, launched in 2001, is the only undergraduate program of its kind.

CSB students receive a joint degree from the College of Business and Economics and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. They take all the core courses required for the business degree and all those required for the B.S. in computer science.

The program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Before launching the CSB program, Lehigh surveyed 38 national consulting companies, software development organizations and public accounting firms.

The program seeks to provide an understanding of computer forensics and corporate risk management by integrating computing and business skills at an unprecedented level. It also strives to prepare students to assume leadership positions in business and technology over the course of their careers.

CSB students learn to analyze business-user information needs, to design computer-based information systems, and to implement system solutions. They work in teams on yearlong product-development or problem-solving projects for sponsoring companies. They may also complete internships, in the U.S. and overseas, for the world’s top accounting firms.

The placement record for the program is 100 percent.

“In today’s complex business environment,” says Peter Bennett ‘63, chairman and CEO of Liberty Partners, “there is an increasingly stronger relationship between technology and virtually every other field of endeavor.

“For that reason, the combination of these two disciplines provides an excellent platform for a career in high-level general management.”
