In the Doctoral Degree Hooding Ceremony Sunday at Baker Hall, more than 100 doctoral candidates from Lehigh’s four colleges were honored for having earned the highest degree in academics. Lehigh President John D. Simon congratulated them for “a job well done.”
Soon-to-be Lehigh graduates, their friends and family, faculty, staff and fellow students gathered May 13 in Iacocca Hall’s Wood Dining Room for the annual Donning of the Kente celebration.
The pre-commencement event, presented by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate students of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds through heartfelt words and the vibrant colors of the traditional kente cloth.
Lehigh engineers were well-represented among those honored at the Baker Institute’s Innovate, Celebrate Awards Dinner held April 23.
More than 20 Lehigh students shared their startup ideas to a crowd of faculty, staff, alumni, and Lehigh Valley entrepreneurs as they vied for two top prizes. The annual event recognizes student, faculty, and alumni innovation and celebrates those who support student entrepreneurship.
Work by computer science doctoral student Youshan Zhang was recognized with a best student paper award at the 2019 Future of Information and Communication Conference (FICC).
Participants from academia and industry gathered at the global conference, held March 14-15 in San Francisco, to present research involving information and communication technologies and their real-world applications.
Max Schepps ’20 wasn’t at all surprised that his team’s matchbox-sized, red muscle car won the 2019 TE Connectivity Expo.
“We knew we had the fastest car in the heat,” he says. “Lots of hard work went into this, and we’re very happy with the result.”
His teammate, Tyler Gramigna ’20, wasn’t always so sure that “Pitbull Caliente” would end up smoking its rivals.
Lehigh students participating in the 2019 Lehigh Expo on April 6 presented their semesters-long projects to the Lehigh community and families attending this year’s Candidates’ Day for students admitted to the Class of 2023. The university-wide Expo, held in Building C on the Mountaintop Campus, featured 150 student projects and involved more than 280 student presenters. The projects that were showcased grew out of work in engineering, English, and other classes; biology labs; capstone design projects; and other pursuits.
