Graduate Student Support & Resources

Four kinds. Academic and research support through your adviser, your department, the Office of Graduate Education and Life and the Graduate Writers Studio. Career support through the Center for Career and Professional Development, which has programming specifically for graduate students. Health, wellness and counseling services through Student Affairs. And financial support, from federal loans and assistantships through to emergency loans and grants. All of it is open to enrolled graduate students in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science.

The Graduate Writers Studio, run by Lehigh’s Office of Graduate Education and Life, provides writing and academic support specifically for graduate students — including dissertation and thesis writing, journal articles and English-language support. It is free to enrolled students.

Yes. Lehigh’s Graduate Life Office administers emergency loans, stipend advances and emergency grants for graduate students facing an unexpected financial shortfall. Applications go through the Graduate Life Office.

All PhDs in the Rossin College are 100% fully funded, though the funding source varies by department — typically a research assistantship, a teaching assistantship or a fellowship. Ask the department you are applying to how its funding is structured.

Financial aid for Lehigh graduate programs consists mainly of fixed-rate federal student loans through the Office of Financial Aid, and you must be registered at least half-time in a degree program to be eligible. Qualified master’s applicants to the Rossin College are also automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to 20% of tuition, with no separate application. Assistantships, external funding and corporate partnerships are further routes.

Six credits each semester during the academic year, or three credits for each summer session. Enrollment in a degree program is also required.

Yes. The Center for Career and Professional Development runs services for graduate students, covering CV and résumé review, interview preparation, industry connections and academic job-market preparation.

Yes. EdAssist-affiliated employees, Edcor-affiliated employees and employees of a Lehigh direct corporate partner each receive a 20% tuition discount on eligible Rossin College graduate programs, and applicants through any of the three can request a free application-fee waiver. The academic, career and wellbeing services listed here are provided to enrolled graduate students at no additional cost. Loans are of course repayable, and emergency loans and stipend advances carry their own terms through the Graduate Life Office.

The GRE is not required or considered for any Rossin College graduate program.
