Over the past 18 months, the phrase "global supply chain" has been as prominent as ever across news reporting and popular discussion.

Pandemic-borne stories abound: empty shelves at the local Costco, container ships aimlessly circling the Pacific in search of an accessible port of California entry, car salespeople playing corn-hole in dealership showrooms because there are simply no cars on the lot to sell. Not to mention the impact it will all have on families, and the retailers who rely upon them, as the upcoming holiday shopping season approaches.

Environmental biotech expert to deliver 2021 Distinguished Water Lecture

National Academy of Engineering member Bruce E. Rittmann, who is Regents' Professor of Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University, will deliver the 2021 Distinguished Water Lecture at Lehigh University. 

Rittmann directs ASU's Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology and conducts research on the science and engineering needed to “manage microbial communities to provide services to society.”   

AI to pave the way to increased waste-to-energy production

A team, led by Lehigh University, will develop technology based on AI combined with state-of-the-art spectroscopy, to analyze municipal solid waste in-situ and in real-time, a cost- and time-effective approach that could pave the way to increased waste-to-bioenergy production
