All applicants must show proof of English proficiency. Criteria for satisfying this requirement is detailed below and includes study/work in English-speaking countries**; if criteria are not met, please submit IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or Cambridge scores.
All applicants are automatically reviewed for English proficiency. You do not need to reach out to individual programs to request a waiver review.
Automatic Waiver Criteria
The requirement will be satisfied/complete if one or more of the following criteria is met:
- Are a citizen/permanent resident of an English-speaking country**, OR
- Earned a degree in the U.S. (with 2+ years of study in person), OR
- Earned a degree in another English-speaking country (with English as the language of instruction), OR
- Studied/worked full-time in an English-speaking country for 2+ years within the last 5 years.
**List of countries where English is an official language and the language of instruction: United States of America, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Botswana, Canada (except Quebec province), Cayman Island, Dominica, England, Ethiopia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Montserrat, Pakistan, Republic of Ireland, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Scotland, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, Uganda, Wales
Accepted Test Scores
If you do not satisfy one or more of the above criteria, please submit the following:
Valid test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or Cambridge) must be submitted to complete your application.

- Applicants may upload unofficial test scores for initial review.
- If admitted, official scores must be sent directly from the testing agency before enrollment.
- Scores expire 2 years from test date and must be valid through I-20 issuance.
Special Considerations and Expiry
Applicants with test scores that do not meet the above minimum requirements will still be considered for admission, but additional English language requirements will be included.
