Spring 2024 Bioengineering Research Day

You are invited to our third annual Bioengineering Research Day, to take place on March 21st, 2024.

About the Event:

The Research Day event is wholly planned and organized by members of our dynamic Graduate Student Association. This year, our event will center on the theme of Academia, Industry, and the Clinic, aiming to inform on the intricate dynamics of the healthcare ecosystem where academic research, industry, and clinical practice intersect. The research day event is aimed at:

  • a) generating a new understanding of these dynamics through perspectives shared by clinical/healthcare and industry experts towards developing solutions for complex biomedical problems for community benefit
  • b) showcasing graduate research in the department to foster collaborations with the clinic/healthcare or/and industry.

When and Where:
Date: March 21, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Health, Science, and Technology (HST) Building 124 E Morton St, Bethlehem, PA 18015

Event Agenda:

The morning session will focus on gaining clinician/auxiliary healthcare perspectives on grand clinical challenges that may be addressed through bioengineering solutions and identifying pathways for clinical/healthcare-academia research partnerships to address these problems. An invited keynote talk will be followed by a panel discussion of experts drawn from leading regional hospital/healthcare systems and diverse clinical specializations. The panel discussion will be moderated, with the questions aimed at exploring various aspects of the healthcare ecosystem.

Midday will be a lunch and networking session, provided by an academic overview of connections within the field of bioengineering between academia, clinic, and industry.

It is important for our graduate students to be able to showcare their research and work within the field of Bioengineering. there will be a poster presentaiton from 12:30-2 to allow our industry and clinical guests to get to know our students and their work. These visitors will be judging the posters and awarding prizes at the end of the day!

The last portion of the day will mirror the morning, but focus on bioengineering in industry. There will be a brief industry keynote followed by a panel discussion.

To close, awards will be given to selected poster presenters, and final words given from our department administration team.

Support the BioE Research Awards:

The Graduate Student Association of the Lehigh Department of Bioengineering is organizing the third annual  Bioengineering Research Day on March 21, 2024. This year the symposium will focus on the theme of 'Exploring the Interfaces between Academia, Industry, and the Clinic'. The event will showcase cutting-edge research conducted by our talented graduate students and also provide an opportunity for ALL our students to network with clinical, allied healthcare, and industry experts and broaden their perspectives to foster collaboration for research and training.

We are seeking your monetary support to raise $3000 in funds to establish the Bioengineering Research Awards that will recognize outstanding graduate student achievements in research, innovation, and academic excellence at this upcoming event and also fund travel awards for our research active undergraduate students to present at nationally-renowned scientific conferences.

Your contributions will provide additional opportunities for professional development of our Bioengineering students  to become future leaders in our field.

To make a monetary contribution, please visit our dedicated donation page here. Please specify 'Bioengineering Research Day' in the notes section.
