On July 1, Sabrina Jedlicka will take on a new role as the Rossin College’s associate dean for academic affairs. In the latest episode of the Rossin Connection Podcast, she shares her perspective on the job, which includes coordinating all of the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs across the college.

Jedlicka is an associate professor and the associate chair in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Bioengineering. She joined the Rossin College faculty in 2008.

One initiative she’ll be working on is helping first-year students develop a plan for targeting classes outside their chosen major. Jedlicka says these classes help students “build a more multifaceted view of the world, and become more interdisciplinary thinkers.” She’ll also use her position to work closely with professional societies and groups on campus to make the field of engineering more inclusive.

Rossin Connection is a show for students, alumni, faculty, and staff—current, former, and future—and for anyone who is interested in the many creative ways that engineers are solving the world’s problems.
