What sets us apart
Since the start of the 21st century, we have been in a “Convergence Revolution”, a convergence of the life sciences, physical sciences, and engineering, which has resulted in the application of engineering principles in the life sciences. Computational and data science, biological sciences, and bioengineering have been at the forefront of this phenomenon, and these are some of Lehigh’s strengths. What sets us apart is that this academic program is one of just a few options nationwide to pursue this field of study at the undergraduate level.
The curriculum for the B.S. in Biocomputational Engineering provides students a foundation in the basic sciences, mathematics, and computer programming, as well as a rigorous core of interdisciplinary engineering coursework. The students will take Biocomputational Engineering courses in which they will study bioinformatics, biophysical models, and signaling in biological systems. The curriculum will culminate with a senior capstone design experience in which the students will integrate concepts and skills from their prior coursework.
