How graduate study gets paid for
All PhDs at the Rossin College are 100% fully-funded, however, funding sources may vary by department.
- PhD students — funding is guaranteed college-wide, with sources varying by department. Applications submitted by December 15 are considered for financial aid.
- Master’s students — a limited number of merit-based scholarships, awarded automatically to qualified applicants, plus teaching and research stipends. Graduate student support.
- Corporate tuition assistance — EdAssist and Edcor affiliates and employees of Lehigh direct corporate partners each receive a 20% tuition discount. Partnerships and discounts.
- External funding — assistantships, grants, fellowships and scholarships from outside organizations. External funding opportunities.
- PhD-specific opportunities — Rossin Research Scholars, Pasteur PhD Partners (P3), the SEED-EF NSF traineeship and Rossin College Professional Development. Special opportunities for PhD students.

How to apply
One online application covers every level. The GRE is not required or considered for any Rossin College graduate program. The fee is $50 USD.
Deadlines by level
- PhD — December 15 for a fall start, for financial aid consideration.
- Master’s — rolling: up to December 15 (spring), May 15 (summer), July 15 (fall).
- International applicants — apply earlier for visa processing: June 1 (fall), November 1 (spring), April 1 (summer).
Application open dates and deadlines are determined by individual departments. Contact the department concerning relevant deadlines and available start terms.

What funding is available for master’s students?
A limited number of merit-based scholarships are available to qualified master’s students, who are considered automatically. These include Master’s Program Committee Scholarships and the Lehigh Alumni Master’s Scholarship, alongside limited teaching and research stipends and 20% corporate tuition discounts through EdAssist, Edcor and direct corporate partners.
What English proficiency scores are required?
International applicants must meet Lehigh’s minimum scores: TOEFL iBT overall 81 (old scale) or 4 (new scale); IELTS overall 6.5; Duolingo English Test overall 125; Cambridge overall 176; or Pearson (PTE) overall 68. Scores expire two years from the test date, and waivers are available in defined circumstances.
Can I take a graduate course without enrolling in a degree program?
Yes. Qualified applicants may be admitted for the purpose of taking one or more graduate-level courses without seeking a degree.
