The Aerospace Issue
Welcome to the Spring 2026 issue of Resolve—a magazine dedicated to research and educational innovation in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University.
In this issue
Engineering for the “New Space” economy
The Rossin College is making renewed investments in research around specific industries where we are poised to create real impact. One such investment is our focus on engineering for the “New Space” economy. Building on Lehigh’s enduring legacy, these efforts include the launch of our new Master of Science in Aerospace and Space Systems Engineering, expanded support for student clubs and competition teams that give students practical experience designing and building flight systems, and the recruitment of faculty whose research is advancing technologies in this exciting field.

Upward Bound
It’s one thing to study flight dynamics; it’s another to learn them from the people who have commanded space shuttles and directed hypersonic research.
Lehigh’s MS-AERO program offers students an unconventional classroom experience where the instructors are also mentors and industry “vector” guides. By coupling rigorous project-based learning with individualized career coaching, the program helps students bypass the typical two-year “learning curve” found in new hires. Whether it’s developing a business case for a new startup or refining the guidance systems of the Hubble Telescope, MS-AERO students are gaining the competitive edge needed to land—and lead—at the top aerospace firms in the country.
